Dating
back to the Edo period, the magnificent Kiyosumi
garden is believed to have been the residence of
business tycoon Kinokuniya Bunzaemon. Having acquired
the land in the Meiji period, Yataro Iwasaki rebuilt
the garden by importing 55 huge rocks from all over
Japan on the purpose of entertaining guests and
company gatherings. Splashing ponds and carved rocks
gives this landscape an aesthetic feel. |

One
of the most pleasant traditional Japanese gardens
in Tokyo, the premises consist of three big islands
and a teahouse by the pond. You can enjoy hopping
from one store to another. Ambling around the shores
and crossing the bridges, you will find colorful
carps and curious turtles begging you for food.
Take a stroll and let the serenity sink into you. |
