Arashiyama
Togetsukyo
An exclusive district on the outskirts of Kyoto, Arashiyama offers you a multiplicity of options. In the center of the area are the magnificent Tenryu-ji temple, shops, cafes and restaurants. In the north of the central area, there are bamboo groves and a residential district with several small temples scattered along the base of the wooded mountains.
Hotsugawa Arashiyama Okochi Villa
An active option would be to take a two-hour boat tour down the Hozu River, flowing through an idyllic, forested valley before reaching urban Kyoto at the Togetsukyo Bridge, hailed as "Moon Crossing Bridge." If you explore further afield to Mt. Arashiyama, you will be welcomed by more than 170 monkeys at the Iwatayama Monkey Park on the slopes of the mountain.
