Inspirational Gorge Journey 4-days

The only Japanese travel designer focusing on indigenous experience, The Real Japan, as the name stands for, hopes to invite guests to the relatively untouched and unspoiled corners of the country. This itinerary is the quintessence of what we can really offer to discriminating travelers who wish to explore off the beaten track.

Kurobe Dam

Welcome to the Kurobe Gorge, a great work of art as created by nature itself. Situated between the Tateyama and Ushiro Tateyama Ranges in the Northern Japanese Alps, the Kurobe Gorge is the deepest V-shaped ravine in Japan with a depth between the river and mountains ranging from 1500 to 2000 meters, molded by the highest level of erosion seen in the country. With its source there, the Korobe River has carried the most water of any Japanese river and is notable for the greatest amount of precipitation in the river's upper reaches, including both snow and rain. For a truly inspirational journey, we suggest taking a scenic train ride running through the gorge and its beautiful pristine forests and extremely steep cliffs.

Kaga yuzen

This journey to this remote corner of the country involves transferring to a number of public transportation including a bus and cable car. For a truly inspirational journey, we suggest taking a scenic train ride running through the gorge and its beautiful pristine forests and extremely steep cliffs. Officially known as "Kurobe Gorge Railway," this unique "trokko" train allows guests to be captivated by the breathtaking nature. Please note that this trip is only available between April and October depending on the weather conditions as it snows heavily in the region in winter.
